100A main switch, Type A 32A RCBO, 32A MCB & T2 SPD - is this a Double Pole RCBO as required by Amendment 2 ?Question by: Sparks Joy Electrics on 26 Oct 2022, 23:40Yes! The EV units are supplied with the mini RCBO, which switches both the L +N poles and are compliant with the current wiring regulations.Answer by: Chris Horridge (Admin) on 27 Oct 2022, 06:31100A main switch, Type A 32A RCBO, 32A MCB & T2 SPD - is the RCBO a C Curve ? Also, is there 1 spare way with this and could that be used to connect a solar PV inverter ?Question by: John Wood on 27 Oct 2022, 15:41RCBO is a B curve, it can be be changed to a C curve with these:

Yes one spare way which can be connected to a solar PV inverter.Answer by: Chris Horridge (Admin) on 1 Nov 2022, 14:23Hi, maybe I’m being thick!! If my ev charger is wired into this does it mean that the main house fuse box won’t be needed? Would this consumer unit just be for the ev charger? Please helpQuestion by: Trevor Palmer on 14 Jan 2023, 07:14You could use this EV distribution unit to connect to your main consumer unit. You'd use an MCB or RCBO from your consumer unit to connect to this.Answer by: Chris Horridge (Admin) on 14 Jan 2023, 09:20If I bought the EV40AX version, have I understood correctly that the 40a RCBO is for supplying the charger and the 32a MCB could be used for another circuit (not needed by charger)Question by: Tom Walker on 23 Jan 2023, 21:11The 32A MCB is to protect the SPD. The 40A RCBO is for supplying the charger.
The EV40AX contains:
SPD
32A MCB is for the SPD
40A mini RCBO is for the charger (L+N switched, 18mm module)
1 spare way blanked off - you could order an additional MCB or RCBO to add another outgoing way.

Can I wire both new 7 KW EV circuit and a new 2 KW electric fire circuit into this curve protector and then with one cable into the spare MCB? They are both on 6mm cable.Question by: Martin Roach on 4 May 2023, 22:21What do you class a a curve protector?
If you've got 9kw at 230V you'd need a 40A MCB or RCBO as the current is 39.13A.
I'd recommend consulting an electrician on this one though and make sure.Answer by: Chris Horridge (Admin) on 5 May 2023, 08:26 -
